International Day

See the sights from our first ever International Day held on November 22, 2009.

With well over 400 people in attendance, the Greater Atlanta Church of Christ hosted its first ever “International Day.” We invited Atlanta Church of Christ at Gwinnett evangelist Richard Alawaye, who’s ethnicity is Nigerian, to preach the Word to us. He showed us in the scriptures the importance of all nations coming together to worship God since that’s what it will be like in heaven. Richard also spent time teaching us what it is going to take to make it to heaven in the first place, using the stories of two men and their different responses to Jesus: the Rich Young Man in Mark 9 and the Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts 8.

Then we were able to see someone with the heart of the Ethiopian Eunuch who has been studying the Bible and eagerly desired to be reconciled to God. Georgia State University senior Lauren Jefferson decided to make Jesus lord and rejoiced as her sins were forgiven in the waters of baptism! She is the fourth campus student baptized in one week at the GACC.

It was a sight to see as people worshipped God dressed in their traditional garb. There was a cultural mix of singing, dancing, and praying throughout the entire service, and once the worship service concluded, everyone got to taste cuisine from around the world. International Day: 2009 was one of the most amazing worship services the GACC has ever experienced and we thank God for magnifying it in such a way that would bring Him glory.
